The Tri-District Arts Consortium (Tri-DAC) was formed in 1985 by three schools districts — Lexington 1, Lexington-Richland 5, and Richland 2 — to serve rising 6th through rising 9th grade artistically gifted and talented students. A pilot summer program held at Columbia College in 1986 enrolled 150 students. Since then, Tri-DAC has grown tremendously. Now serving over 450 creative writing, dance, music, theatre and visual art students, Tri-DAC celebrates its 30th year in its new home hosted by the Palmetto Center for the Arts, the Richland District Two Fine Arts Magnet, located on the campus of Richland Northeast High School. This exciting move offers students a chance to work in newly renovated and expanded state-of-the-art facilities, with twenty-first century technology.
